Cartoon Network Launches Anti-Racism PSAs to Help Families Have Productive Conversations About Racism

Cartoon Network launched a series of anti-racism PSAs developed by Rebecca Sugar ("Steven Universe" creator) and Ian Jones-Quartey ("O.K. KO! Let’s Be Heroes" creator) aimed at providing kids and families with productive ways to disrupt the common narratives about racism.

This first PSA was created in partnership with Dr. Allen Lipscomb, a specialist in providing anti-oppressive inclusive mental health services to individuals and families of color. The clip discusses the importance of understanding how racism affects individuals and encourages audiences to not be racist.

The first of the four PSAs titled, “Don’t Deny It, Defy It,” debuted on Tuesday, Oct. 27, with the other three rolling out bi-monthly. Each PSA will feature a different "Steven Universe" character and will air on Cartoon Network’s YouTube channel and across their social media platforms.
